A violent clash broke out between two families on Tuesday morning in the Balgiram area of Jagatballavpur, Howrah, following a dispute over a broken marriage. The conflict caused panic in the locality and brought traffic to a standstill. Police said Nasir Malik and his associates attacked relatives who had previously called off his marriage.
During the attack, Sabir Ali and his family members were allegedly pulled onto the street and assaulted. Locals reported chaos in the area as the confrontation escalated. Eight persons sustained injuries and were admitted to Jagatballavpur Rural Hospital for treatment.
Both families filed separate complaints at Jagatballavpur police station. Police have detained several individuals from both sides and begun interrogation. Security presence has been increased in the area to prevent further disturbances.
